The Soundcraft VI6 LOCAL RACK connects between the Soundcraft Vi Series Control Surface and Stagebox. A local DSP rack, which sits with the console surface, it provides the DSP processing power, card slots for expandability as well as some I/O. The Soundcraft Vi system consists of three elements: the compact, space saving Vi6 control surface, the local rack (this product) containing the SCore Live processing engine and a stagebox which connects conveniently to the local rack via Cat5 or Cat7 cable, with fibre optic interfacing available as an option. The use of flexible, reel-mounted Cat5 cabling between the Local Rack and Stagebox enables the mixing position to be located up to 80 metres from the stage. An optional Fibre Optic interface allows a run of up to 1.5 kilometres between the stagebox and the local rack.
In addition to receiving the 64 Inputs and returning the 32 outputs to the stagebox, the local rack has additional I/O. There are 16 Analogue line inputs and 16 analogue line outputs available on the local rack, plus as standard 8 pairs of AES/EBU inputs and outputs. This means that there are in total 96 potential input connections, 64 of which may be mixed simultaneously. There is also an optical MADI I/O card which provides an additional 64 channels of input and output for applications such as hard disk recording or broadcast feeds. This can feed a ProTools system if a 3rd party interface is used. 3 LCR local monitor A line, 2 LR local monitor B line and TB line outputs are also featured. The DSP Processor Card (fitted as standard unless otherwise requested) adds 8 channels of high-performance Lexicon Effects and 35 (or 27) 30-band BSS Audio graphic equalisers to the Soundcraft Vi6.
