Advanced Studio Recording Bundle 2nd Gen description:

The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB Audio Interface is a USB audio interface with 18 inputs, 20 outputs, and is designed to be at the heart of a studio. Focusrite’s Scarlett 18i20 audio interface is aimed to deal with a huge range of recording situations, eight acclaimed mic pre’s are available with two located on the front of the unit for easy access and quick recording. A further 10 input channels can be found on the rear of the interface via digital ADAT and S/PDIF connections. The outputs are available via matching digital connections as well as 10 XLR anolog outputs. In addition to this plethora of connectivity there are 2 invidual headphone outs on the front for separate tracking each with their own level control.

The Scarlett 18i20 audio interface is enclosed in a stunning red anodised body and can be mounted in a rack taking 1U of space. Control of line levels are to hand with signal meters to show volume and any possible clipping. Digital conversion is of a high quality offering the ability to record in 24bit 96kHz meaning an unspoiled recording chain that goes straight into your DAW. Extensively developed software drivers are available for PC and Mac, with an added option of using the interface with an iPad although this does require the Apple Camera connection (not supplied).

Also provided with the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 is a comprehensive software bundle. A Scarlett Plug-in pack is provided giving vintage emulation for EQ, compression, gating and reverb. Ableton Live Lite gives a platform to work in and additional sounds can be gathered from the Novation Bass Station software synth and 1Gb of samples provided by Loopmasters.

The main features of the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB Audio Interface include:

  • Eight Focusrite mic preamps
  • Phantom power, up to 60dB of gain

The Fame Pro Series VT-67 Tube Microphone is a multi-pattern condenser microphone based on vintage technology and featuring a high quality Lundahl output transformer. The VT-67 is extremely versatile due to its multi-pattern pick up which is selectable via the power supply. The microphone also features a -10dB switch for loud sources and a low end roll off switch which is perfect for cleaning up some of the clutter which is un-needed when recording something like a guitar cabinet, for example.

It includes the special 9 pin cable which connects the microphone to the power supply, providing power to the microphone and also ships with a rugged shock mount. In use, the Fame VT-67 sounds wonderfully smooth and balanced without being pronounced anywhere within the frequency spectrum, but with plenty of character. The Valve circuitry adds wonderful harmonics making any acoustic source sound rich and detailed, the top end is very smooth and takes EQ boosting without getting harsh.

The high quality Lundahl transformer enhances the low end proximity effect, making it tight and expensive sounding without being loose and flabby. The VT-67 is probably one of the best bargains out there, on par with microphones many times the price. An excellent choice for pretty much anything; including male and female vocals, acoustic instruments, percussion, piano and electric guitar.

The main features of the Fame Pro Series VT-67 Tube Microphone include:

  • Cardioid, figure eight (bi-directional), omni-directional and six intermediate stages
  • Frequency response of 20Hz – 20KHz
  • Sensitivity at 1KHz 0dB = 20mV/Pa
  • Impedance of 200 Ohm
  • Equivalent input noise: 16dB (A-weight IEC/651)
  • Max SPL is 144dB
  • Power supply, premium elastic shockmount and wooden box included
  • Lundahl transformer
  • EH 6072A tube

The Fame Mic Reflexion Screen Pro Set is specifically designed to offer the user superb isolation and protection against unwanted sound reflexions. The Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro Studio Headphones are closed back dynamic headphones that use the same comfortable, sound isolating design as the 250 Ohm studio version, but with a lower resistance for general purpose and mobile applications. Because of the lower resistance, the DT770 Pro 80 Ohm headphones are louder and work on low power devices such as smart phones, mp3 player, laptops and bus powered interfaces. Therefore, if you are working in a loud environment or using a battery operated device, the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm headphones make the perfect choice of headphone.

When out and about, you really need to block as much ambient noise out as possible and a lot of headphones do this by clamping the ear-pads as tightly to your ears as possible and using materials that absorb a lot of sound. This produces two unwanted issues; discomfort, after prolonged use; and a loss of audio quality as sound being generated by the driver is absorbed by the cup. The DT700 Pro series avoids this by using a clever bass reflex system and a large circumaural cup design with velour pads. Of course the real technology is in the transducer itself, which produces a nominal frequency response of 5Hz to 35kHz and a nominal SPL of 96dB – an exceptional performance.

The main features of the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro Studio Headphones include:

  • Soft inner headband
  • Adjustable and robust steel headband
  • Velour earpads
  • Single sided cable
  • Transducer Type: Dynamic
  • Operating principle: Closed Back
  • Nominal Frequency Response: 5Hz to 35,000Hz
  • Nominal Impedance: 80 Ohm
  • Nominal Sound Pressure Level: 96dB
  • Nominal Total Harmonic Distortion: <0.2%
  • Power Handling Capacity: 100mW
  • Ambient Noise Isolation: Approx. 18dB(A)
  • Connector: 1/8” (3.5mm) – 1/4” adaptor is supplied
  • Weight (without cable): 270g

The Adam A7X Active Studio Monitors is the successor to the mighty A7. The original A7, became the most famous of all ADAM monitors in a very short time. Not only has it been reviewed over three dozen times with outstanding results, it has also received numerous awards. The A7 quickly gained mass appeal, praised in many of the world’s largest internet forums. Still today, the A7 are the reference monitors in many smaller studios.

The first aspect that distinguishes the ADAM A7X is the X-ART tweeter. The ‘X’ stands for ‘eXtended frequency response’ and thus for one of the features of the Accelerating Ribbon Technology that has been drastically improved: the frequency response. It now extends all the way up to 50kHz. In addition, the X-ART tweeter has a higher efficiency and higher maximum sound pressure levels.

The perfect integration with the lower frequencies has been achieved with a 7” mid-woofer. It has been redesigned with a much bigger voice coil (1.5”) and is driven by an amplifier with twice the power compared to its predecessor. This combination produces an amazing sound and pressure levels with an almost distortion-free musical reproduction.

Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier. A 50W A/B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, while the mid-woofer is being driven by a 100W PWM amp. The front panel of the ADAM A7X includes a power switch and a control for the volume that retains the volume setting independently from the on/off switch.

On the rear panel of the ADAM A7X are several additional controls: a gain for the high frequencies (± 4dB) and two shelf filters for high and low frequencies. To ensure greater compatibility, there are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors.

The main features of the Adam A7X Active Studio Monitors Features:

  • 7” carbon / rohacell / glass woofer
  • Xart tweeter
  • Woofer Amp. power RMS / music: 100 W / 150 W
  • Tweeter Amp. power RMS / music: 50 W / 75 W
