MC 930 Stereo-Set Cardioid Condenser Microphone Set description:

The Beyerdynamic MC 930 Condenser Microphone high-quality, universal condenser microphone features an exceptional price/performance ratio. Critical features of the MC930 are the wide frequency response of 40 - 20,000 Hz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 71 dB.

The Beyerdynamic MC930 Condenser Microphone is suitable for miking choirs, orchestras and solo instruments. Due to the switchable pre-attenuation of 15 dB it provides excellent performance at high sound pressure levels. The switchable bass roll-off filter with 6 dB/Octave at 250 Hz compensates for proximity effects. The MC 930 is phantom powered (11 - 52 V) and is suitable for live applications and installations.

The Beyerdynamic MC 930 Dynamic Microphone main features include:

  • Cardioid polar pattern
  • Switchable pre-attenuation -15 dB
  • Switchable bass roll-off filter at 250 Hz
  • Phantom power 11 - 52 V
  • consisting of 2 matched MC 930, 2 x EA 19/25 elastic suspensions, 2 x WS 53 wind screens and rugged plastic case

Pros: +
Unhyped, what you hear is , pretty much what you get microphones. My personal favourite SDC for acoustic guitars and a few other plucked instruments. Thankfully lacking that brash top end that so many modern SDCs seem to aim for. At the price hard not to think of them as really, more than a bit of a bargain.

Cons: -
At just under £300 each, there really ins't anything one can pick on as being a bad point.

Everything in accord with the many reviews on the web these mics are beautifully engineered and sound naturally crisp and clear.

Review:
These mics performed excellently on every source we threw at it them. Drum overheads, acoustic guitar, classical guitar, piano and choir all sounded great with a wide stereo image and in your face presence. I will use them on all my stereo recordings from now on.
