The MD 421 II continues the tradition of the MD 421 which has been one of Sennheiser's most popular dynamic microphones for over 35 years. The large diaphragm, dynamic element handles high sound pressure levels, making it a natural for recording guitars and drums. The MD 421's full-bodied cardioid pattern, and five-position bass control make it an excellent choice for most instruments, as well as group vocals, or radio broadcast announcers. One listen and you'll know why it's a classic. Its excellent sound qualities enable it to cope with the most diverse recording conditions and broadcasting applications. The five position bass control enhances its 'all- round' qualities.

a legendary hypercardio mic, killer on toms, kick, bass and guitar amp, sax, trombone - everything! And dv247 is the cheaper place to buy this microphone!
I bought this mic for recording electric guitar, I use it in conjunction with a shure SM57.It's brilliant, really well defined present guitar sound. You'll like it straight out of the box. Great buy
Great mic. Robust and versatile. I use it on bass guiatr, electric guitar and of course on toms. The roll off settings mean it also has applications for voice recording.
So far I have only had time to try this mic on speech. My initial reaction is that I cannot understand why it hasn't found a place in radio studios in the UK. It compares very favourably with the Beyer M201 for instance giving a fuller as well as a bright sound. I shall enjoy trying my MD421 on other applications.A friend of mine posted a video using it on guitar. It sounded very good indeed. I'm off now to try it alongside my Beyer M99 and M88 as well as the Shure SM7B.
