NEKKST K6 Active Studio Monitors (Pair) description:

The NEKKST K6 Pair is a bundle containing 2 x Behringer NEKKST K6 Studio Monitors, Pair.

The Behringer NEKKST K6 are professional nearfield monitors designed to bring true, clean audio to your desktop.

Armed with 6.5” glass fibre cone woofers and 1” silk dome tweeters that are both powered by separate amplifiers in a bi-amping configuration, the NEKKST K6 pack a serious punch for such small speakers.  The ultra flat response, amazing dispersion characteristics and large ‘sweet spot’ of the NEKKST K6 monitors are all due to both the use of wave guide technology and to the designer, Keith Klawitter, founder of KRK.  These incredible sounding speakers also boast a high density fibre glass enclosure for improved acoustics and low end performance, separately controlled limiters for HF and LF overload protection, and room adjustment controls.

The Behringer NEKKST K6 input via balanced XLR, balanced ¼” TRS and unbalanced RCA connections.

The Behringer NEKKST K6 features include:

  • 100 Watt studio monitors
  • 6.5” woofer with glass fibre cone
  • 1” tweeter with silk dome
  • Bi-amping configuration
  • Large ‘sweet spot’
  • Advanced wave guide technology
  • Designed by KRK founder Keith Klawitter

Review:
I bought these speakers to take out on the road with me for location recordings of classical music. I have found them to be a bit bright (so often use them with the HF set to -4dB), and very detailed in all areas. They generate plenty of volume, and are crucially very difficult to achieve a great sound. This has meant that when reviewing on other monitors, and good hi-fi speakers the result sounds excellent.

Review:
They generate enough volume from my electric viola to play at home, they are only designed for close-field. Weight is not excessive so I can move them around which is important when you are my age. With the cheaper speakers I used before , the high notes I played were scratchy and the low notes flatly muffled. Now, the higher notes are crisp and the C string has a new resonance. They are excellent value, I spent days looking at all the possible alternatives and so far I am very pleased with my final choice.
